experience is appreciated
To be a race engineer you need to be able to create perfection; to know every detail of your car so that it works with the driver to achieve incredible results.
The course aims to train highly qualified professionals in race engineering, through a variety of teaching activities. It includes both theoretical and practical teaching, made up of the following:
· Teaching modules at UNIPV and ASC, including an Advanced Driving Course
· Practical sessions at ASC proving ground and at the Monza circuit
· Guided tours of automotive plants and facilities
· Workshops with race engineering professionals
· Access to both static and dynamic simulators
· A variety of Advanced Short Courses
· Final 4-month internship with partner companies
Our academic course in Race Engineering can help you master the unique set of skills you need to become a race engineer. The course includes amazing opportunities to work with prestigious companies and to learn on and off the track. The curriculum includes 13 modules: 11 teaching modules, 1 advanced short courses and seminars module and 1 internship activity module.
Application procedure will open on 1st June 2021 and will be available until 1st September 2021.
The aim of the Master’s programme is to produce highly qualified professionals with a solid preparation in managing race cars. Specific competence will be gained by the students in the techniques for car set up in a virtual scenario through CAE as well as through experimental test and activity on the track. During the entire duration of the programme, a Formula 4 car driven by a professional driver will be our test-bed. The learning environment is highly innovative and includes classroom lessons along with test sessions on ASC proving ground, during which students will have hands-on learning of the techniques and methodologies of Race Engineering activities (from race car management to radio communications to the psychological aspects of the relationship between the driver, the engineer and the team). All participants will follow an introductory course in advanced driving techniques specifically designed for the programme. A fundamental feature of the training is the interaction with professional Race Engineers for the whole duration of the course. A specific training on a VI-Grade compact simulator and a special and unique training module on the SkyDrive/Avehil dynamic simulator at the Monza Circuit complete the teaching programme. Career opportunities for graduates involve all the racing units and race teams in motor sports competitions. More specifically, the competencies acquired from the Master’s programme represent a key factor in allowing students to quickly and successfully become part of a racing team. At present, this type of engineering professional, strongly requested by the market, is not associated with any specific academic programme. An internship experience is included in the course activity. The First Level Master’s in “Race Engineering” is offered to international students with an Engineering Degree and a passion for motor racing.
Entry Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering - Knowledge of English - An automotive or mechanical background with work experience is also appreciated
Students
are assessed in a variety of ways, with their final grade being made up of the
assessment of individual teaching modules, the internship, and a final exam.
The
final exam consists of a presentation and discussion of a Thesis. At the
end of the Master’s course, students who have completed all activities and met
all the programmed obligations will be awarded a First Level Master’s
Degree in “Race Engineering”.
A
4-month internship activity at a company or racing team will complete the
training of the student (for example in the previous editions the stage were
hosted by Prema, Ycom, Lazarus Team, Romeo Ferraris, Tatuus, Autotecnica, J.A.S.
Motorsport).
